Marcy Long, LMHC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Certified Addictions Counselor (813) 279-1800 mlong@pathwaysofflorida.com |
I would like to introduce myself as a resource for individuals seeking supportive therapy. I joined Pathways of Florida in February 2019 after working with private and not for profit agencies offering prevention, intervention, and outpatient and inpatient co-occurring mental health and substance abuse for the past 15 years.
I believe that I provide a safe environment for all who I work with. Studies have shown no one therapeutic modality utilized by therapists is superior to another; rather, clinicians themselves ultimately determine whether treatment will prove effective. It’s not about the model being used; instead, it’s the relationship between the therapist and client. This principle guides my work, in that I strive to provide a client centered, strength-based counseling setting to individuals. Modalities and techniques I draw from include Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Systems Theory and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). When I’m not working with individuals, I enjoy spending time with my family, bike riding, enjoying Florida outdoors as well as traveling. |
